Jie Shao, 33, allegedly used the wrong dosage of anaesthetic when she attempted to put fillers into the breasts of Jean Huang at the Medi Beauty Clinic in Chippendale on August 30.

Ms Huang was rushed to hospital after she went into cardiac arrest at the clinic. She died in hospital two days later.

Central Local Court heard on Tuesday that an additional charge of manslaughter has been added to the original charge of recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm and using poison to endanger life.

Ms Shao was visiting from China on a tourist visa, prosecutors told the court at her first appearance on Friday, and had no recognised qualifications in Australia.

Her lawyer Mary Underwood told the court previously that Ms Shao had completed a five-year degree at Guangdong Medical University and had practiced in China and Britain.

Ms Shao was originally accused of administering the intoxicating substance tramadol and lidocaine either with the intention of endangering the life of Ms Huang or being reckless about whether she caused her injury.

Police now allege that she also caused the death of Ms Huang by injecting her with varying amounts of anaesthetic in the form of tramadol, lidocaine and the restricted substance hyaluronic acid.

The court has previously been told that Ms Shao made admissions about administering anaesthetic during the procedure.

Ms Shao was known to Ms Huang through a mutual friend.

She was not required to appear in court on Tuesday and bail was formally refused.

The matter will return to court on October 31.

Ms Huang was the manager and co-owner of the newly-opened clinic, which is part of Sydney's Central Park development.

She previously lived in Melbourne, studying at the University of Melbourne, before opening the clinic in May.

She had also studied at the University of New South Wales.
