Much to the consternation of local residents 2LF has dropped its usual Saturday morning line up in place of broadcasting from the national network but 2YYY has decided to pounce and fill the gap that many local’s want.
“We’re taking advantage of a gap,” new Saturday morning host Chris Edwards said.
The local volunteer run station has added Chris to it’s ranks to host a sports show on the airwaves that will focus purely on sport in the Young region.
Chris’ new show will also include local achievements of individuals, clubs and teams, include a quiz as well as interviews with all of the ‘usual suspects’ of local sporting royalty including Michael Grant, Mark Foreman, Bill Kearney, Cliff Traynor and Stuart Maxwell.
Chris is very eager to give listeners what they want.
“We can’t afford not to pick up the ball here,” he said in regards to the new show.
The new line up will include a talk back segment from 9 – 10 am where callers can phone the open line number – 63827733.
From 10 – 10.30 am there will be a local gardening segment followed up with the 2YYY marketplace straight after.
“With plenty of live sport coming up there’s lots to talk about,” Chris said.
“It’s a service to the community that they require and deserve.”
Chris will have a total of three shows over the week with a Friday show to bring listeners into the weekend, the Saturday show and a Monday show to wrap the weekend up.
Sports Central kicks off on the airways on Saturday morning from 7 – 10 am.
