The event was held at Joyes Hall, Charles Sturt University. There were five other schools from Wagga that competed in our section. We were the only band that traveled to perform in the eisteddfod.
The awards for the group’s section were donated by and named after Mrs Ann Guthrie who also sent a special message to us at the conclusion of the morning to let us know that she was delighted that we made the effort to travel over for the eisteddfod.
Young Public Concert Band was awarded second place, with Kooringal Public School winning first place and Sturt Public School receiving third place.
The students in the band enjoyed watching the other schools perform and thoroughly appreciated the talent that Kooringal Public demonstrated.
The Young Public School Concert Band is comprised of 26 students ranging from years 3-6 and includes percussion, keyboard, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, trombones, trumpets, alto saxophones, clarinets, and flutes.
We are extremely thankful to Mr Mark Corkery from the Young Regional School of Music for the hard work he puts into selecting our repertoire and conducting our school band.
