Racing will resuming on Friday night October 20 followed by the popular Cherry Festival Cup meeting on Friday night November 24.
With the completion of the current season comes the annual presentation night to be held at The Young Golf Club tomorrow night commencing at 6:30pm. Anyone still wishing to attend the dinner can contact Chloe Powderly.
Trainer of the Year
Trainer Of The Year will be awarded to Bathurst mentor Steve Turnbull who supported the club throughout the season to secure a convincing tally in excess of 70 points ahead of his daughter Amanda and Riverina trainer Shane Hillier.
Driver of the Year
The tables were reversed in the Driver Of The Year point score with Amanda Turnbull being a convincing winner over John O’Shea and the recently married Matt Rue who tied the knot at Port Douglass last week with his long time partner Gemma Hewitt.
Horse of the Year
Horse Of The Year for 2017 was decided at the final meeting with Our Braxton taking the title from Lucky Lila and Timmy Day.
Local Driver of the Year
Local Driver Of The Year, Nic Dewar has done a wonderful job and his rise through the ranks of junior drivers has been watched with great interest by his peers. Congratulations to him and it hoped that another young driver, Blake Micallef will follow in his footsteps.
Blake did an excellent job in landing Another Fireball to another win at Leeton last Friday night and he also has great future in harness racing.
Local Trainer Of The Year was keenly contested, the win going down to the line with Josh Powderly and Peter Schiller fighting out the award in a close and interesting tussle.
2017 Actew AGL Young Show
Young Harness Racing Club supported the Young Annual Show for the first time in a number of years and local trainers were on hand to provide three races with some close finishes and fast times the order of the day.
