Young District Medical Centre Practice Manager Michelle Ford said the inclusion of Doctor Tina Zhong has increased doctor numbers within the practice to 11.
Local patients have complained that there is a shortage of doctors in Young.
Doctor Zhong started with the practice on August 7 and has said she feels passionately about providing community based care.
Doctor Zhong also said she wants to and will be an active member of the local community.
Ms Ford said the aim of the doctors and staff at the Young District Medical Centre is to provide wholistic care in all areas of family medicine, and with the addition of Dr Zhong on board, the Practice has more appoinments available to assist the community in managing and treating individuals in a timely and efficient manner.
Doctor Zhong completed her Australian Medical Concil exam in 2008 and has since worked in the Emergency Department in Wagga Wagga for six years.
“In this intensive and fast -paced work environment, Dr Tina has been exposed to a great variety of caseloads, and experience,” Ms Ford said.
It was in 2016 that Doctor Zhong started her General Practice training in Wagga Wagga and has a special interest in dermatology and paediatrics which she now plans on continuing and using in Young.
Doctor Zhong is one of three new doctors who have been welcomed to Young and District Medical Centre this year alone.
The new doctors have been able to provide extra appointments and have made quite an impact on patients and have eased some of the huge workloads of the original doctors at the surgery according to the Young and District Medical Centre.
To schedule an appointment with Dr Zhong contact the Young and District Medical Centre from 8.30am – 5pm Monday to Friday.
