A semi-trailer truck has mounted the kerb at the roundabout on Boorowa and Lynch streets on Friday morning, flattening the wrought iron fence and heritage signs.
The driver did not stop but continued driving leaving pedestrians in shock.
One pedestrian narrowly avoided being hit by the truck.
“The driver appeared not to pull out wide enough and ran over the fence and the signs, it made a hell of a noise, and I almost got run over,” the pedestrian said.
Hilltops Council maintenance supervisor Craig Foster said the driver was located and will be expected to pay for all damages.
Thanks to information given to police by the public we were able to track the driver and the company down, we will send them the bill for the damage.Craig Foster
“Thanks to information given to police by the public we were able to track the driver and the company down,” he said.
“We will send them the bill for the damage.
“I’d be guessing the total cost of the damage, but wrought iron fences are not cheap so it will be an expensive mistake the driver has made.”
