Commercial real estate agent CBRE’s Stephen Grant said the buyer had not yet given them any information on what he plans to do with the property.
“He might renovate the building or do random house packages,” Mr Grant said.
Earlier this year Jane Douch set up a Gofundme page in an attempt to buy the property and renovate it for community purposes, however they fell short of their goal.
There are several unused buildings on the five acre block consisting of a chapel, a nun’s convent (c1934), a multipurpose building, a building that once housed nurses plus the old Mercy Care Hospital itself which was built in 1911 and was originally called the Sacred Heart Hospital.
This hospital was built by priests of St Mary’s Catholic Parish, in a concerted campaign supported by locals and many in the wider community of Young and district.
