Four games of the Club Fours Championship were played over the weekend. All four games were closely contested with five shots being the biggest winning margin. In Saturday’s game the margin was never more than three shots and John Cooper, Rod Cummings, Geoff Hines and Brian Madden scored a 19–18 win over Stewart Taylor, Ted Loader, Greg Woods and Denis Rosen. On Sunday Ian Schofield, Peter Slater, Les Fanning and Ged Hardman established an early lead of 11–5 over Justin Nowlan, Tim Carpenter, James Maloney and Dave Quigley and went on to win 17–12. Colin Parker, Joe Bargwanna, Tom Preston and Cliff Traynor had a good 21–9 lead over James Freudenstein, Darryle Miller, Damien Miller and David Ward after 16 ends and held on to win 22–17. The final game saw both teams using a substitute with Albert Carter, Peter Berry, Brian March and Colin Stokell opposed to Tony Ruhl, Ian Gailey, Colin Powell and Milan Brankovic. Colin’s team won 18–16. The semi–finals will be played on Saturday with Kevin Porter’s team to play Ged Hardman’s team and Cliff Traynor’s team to play Brian Madden’s team. The final is set down for Sunday.

Saturday afternoon bowls
There were 12 other players on Saturday afternoon. David Donges and Harold Anderson won their game by 22 shots to win the Penrose Funerals sponsored vouchers. Other winners were Max Penfold and Les Fanning with their three shot margin giving them the $200 jackpot, and Peter Berry and James Maloney who won their game by two shots.
Sunday morning bowls
The uncertain weather on Sunday morning saw just eight players on the green with Roger Allen and Brad Douglas having the best score with 17 points.
Thursday afternoon bowls
Twenty–eight players were involved on Thursday afternoon. The vouchers for the highest margin went to Aldo Malvicino and Cliff Traynor with a 14 shot margin and the $200 jackpot was won by Chris Wright and Denis Rosen.
Minor Singles
Entries for the Minor Singles close on Saturday October 21 and entries for the Mixed Pairs Championship close on Tuesday October 17.
Guy Pickering Charity Challenge
The first games in the Tuesday night division of the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge will be played on October 17 and the Thursday night division starts on October 19. Teams can be nominated by contacting the club.
