The initiative is a way for Hilltops Council to seek and gather ideas and suggestions directly from the community.
The initiative will assist the newly elected council in taking on one of their first important tasks of creating a Community Strategic Plan (CSP) Hilltops Council Mayor Brian Ingram said on Thursday.
“Now that the first ever Hilltops Council is in place, one of our first items of business will be to create what’s called a ‘Community Strategic Plan’ or CSP,” the Mayor said.
“Basically, the CSP is a blueprint for the future of the region and will outline the goals, challenges and opportunities for Hilltops; it will set-out ways to consolidate our strengths while also fulfilling our exciting potential.”
According to the mayor the initiative will involve a range of activities to collect feedback Council needs to create the CSP.
“As the name suggests, the ‘Your Hilltops’ project is about gaining an awareness from the community about what it means to them to live in Hilltops, and provides the platform for us to shape our future together,” he said.
“It’s also about understanding the aspirations of the community; in other words, what they envision the region to look like down the track for future generations, and the building blocks we need to get to that point.
To ensure the entire Hilltops Council is covered the ‘You Hilltops’ initiative will be inclusive to all ages, diversities, towns, villages and communities within the Local Government area.
“From pop-up street stalls, to community workshops, surveys and a photographic and drawing competition, there’s a variety of ways people can contribute and provide feedback,” the mayor said.
