Race one
Trainer Josh Powderly collected third prizemoney in race one with first starter Nicstar driven by Tod Day.
After being midfield in the early part of the race, the four-year-old Life Sign gelding ran on well to finish just behind the short priced favourite Real Obsession and the Scott Hewitt trained Betawenimdancin with the winner rating a smart mile rating of 1:58.5.
Race two
Blake Micallef drove another good race on the evergreen five-year-old mare Crusty to finish third behind the well supported Roarn for Daniel Rowell and Mitchell Reece in race two with Cody Shannon claiming second.
Crusty has now recorded 61 starts for her owners and has greeted the judge on four ocassions with 21 minor placings to her credit.
Race four
Locally owned four-year-old gelding Road Top Vagas ran another eye catching race to finish a close second behind the odds on favourite Inner Light in race four.
Trained by Ian Osmond in Canberra, the son of Aces And Sevens almost caused the upset of the night going down by half a neck in an exciting finish that certainly brought the crowd to their feet.
Race five
The master plasterer Glenn Wilmot improved on last week’s performance when Mustang Jet chased home the raging hot favourite Sky Diamond in race five.
The winner is engaged at Young on Friday night and on that run will be hard to beat .
Mustang Jet was having only his second start from a spell and found the 1:58.5 mile rating a little challenging with the winner recording an impressive 32 ¼ metre margin.
Final race of the night
The tables were turned in the final race when Midnight In Vagas, trained and driven by Glenn Wilmot started well from gate one and proved too strong for Panacias Seal and first starter Lost River Boy for Scott Hewitt.
Midnight In Vagas was narrowly beaten last week and with an opportunity to dictate the pace, the five-year-old mare, owned by Graham Butt broke through for her first win in 11 starts.
Racing returns to Young
Harness Racing will return to Young on Friday night when the Young Harness Racing Club will host an eight race program.
With many horses backing up from Canberra on Monday and taking to the track on Friday there should be a great night of racing on the cards.
