Young Public School Parents and Citizens Association held a fundraiser last term with all money going towards updating and refreshing the already popular equipment in the playground.
Hilltops Council Mayor Brian Ingram attended the school to officially open the new play equipment which had been installed over the holidays ready for the first day back.
As an added bonus for teachers, parents and students alike Mrs Janet Ingram, who was previously a teacher at the school, was also in attendance.
The Parents and Citizen’s Association had determined the previous play equipment in the playground was too small for the number of children who were trying to utilise it and as a result have extended the area to include a new climbing wall and a double side which have been very popular since being installed.
Funds for the play equipment were raised through the efforts of the Parents and Citizens Association with the major prize from the raffle going to Bert Adrichen. Other prizes were won by Evalyn Reynolds, Lyn Callaghan, Jason Wadley, Adam Strong and Nicole Cummings.

The Parents and Teachers Association said they are proud to have funded the purchase of the new play equipment and would like to thank everyone who purchased tickets, the organisers, the ticket sellers and all those who contributed.
Over the first week of school students from both infants and primary were allowed to take it in turns to play in the new area with all students giving it a big tick of approval.
Last Monday the play area was returned to the infants who have been making the most of it by playing on the equipment before school and during lunch and recess.
