Two games were played on Saturday with Elsie and Geoff Hines going up against Judith and Terry Mulligan, and Jill and Denis Rosen facing off against Sheila and Cliff Traynor.
In their game Elsie and Geoff established an early lead but by the 14th end Judith and Terry were behind by just 1 shot at 18–17.
Elsie and Geoff won five of the final seven ends to win 33–21.
There was a similar pattern in the other game.
Sheila and Cliff led 16–7 after 10 ends but after 17 ends Jill and Denis had reduced the margin to 19–17.
Sheila and Cliff won the final four ends to win 32–17.
A further four games were played on Sunday afternoon.
John and Kate Cooper led Heather Bailey and Ian Schofield 14–1 after eight ends but after 17 ends Heather and Ian led 18–17.
John and Kate won the final 4 ends to win 25–18.
Margo Parker and Damien Miller had a 14–2 lead over Ann Gardner and Joe Bargwanna after seven ends but Ann and Joe cut the lead to three shots after 10 ends.
Margo and Damien won most of the ends from that point to win 28–17.
With a 10–0 lead after five ends Margaret Gailey and Peter Slater were in a very good position against Elsie and Geoff Hines and they maintained a good lead of 19–11 after 16 ends.
Three ends to Elsie and Geoff cut the margin to 19–18 with Margaret and Peter winning the final two ends for a 21–18 win.
In the remaining game Mark Anderson and Therese Ruhl played Sheila and Cliff Traynor.
This game was always close with the lead changing seven times.
The scores were level at 19–all after 19 ends.
Sheila and Cliff scored two shots on the 20th end and Mark and Therese scored three shots on the final end to win 22–21.
