As with previous years, the event was filled with performances and cusine representing a large range of cultures and nations.
Attendees were delighted with a relaxed and family friendly afternoon that also hosted a costume competition and singers and dancers from around the region and affiliated societies from Sydney.
A raffle was also held to raise much needed funds for the continued operation of the Multicultural Association.
President of YADMA, Josefina Johnson raised the importance of promoting Multicultural awareness within the district.
"The Young District has grown in cultural diversity over the decades, YADMA seeks to provide a welcoming forum for people of all backgrounds,” Josefina said.
“Holding events such as our flagship end of year celebration is not an avenue for people to enjoy food and performances from all around the globe but to raise awareness of the importance of embracing other peoples backgrounds. This is especially crucial in rural areas."
Josefina has served as the association's President since its inception in 2010.
Several Hilltops Coucillors also enjoyed the afternoon of celebrations.
Most notably newly elected local member for Cootamundra, Stephanie Cooke MP also credited YADMA for its hard work and dedication for a successful event in promoting global culture, sharing friendships and authentic cuisine and thanked the association for fostering respect and friendship within the region.
YADMA holds monthly meetings at the Young Townhall – Maimaru room every second Tuesday of the month at 2pm.
We welcome new members with a fee of $15 for family and $10 single.
