“We’re holding an open day for young school leavers with a disability, their families, teachers and local community groups to come along and see what services are available to them, to prepare for independence, preparing for working life and gaining social skills,” Job Centre Australia’s Michelle Weaver said.
The open day will allow locals with a disability to learn how they can gain hands on skills that will assist them in achieving their goals and to hear about Job Centre’s social acitivities, cooking workshops and fitness sessions.
Residents in Young are invited to attend, ask questions, meet the friendly staff, hear from others around the area and find out what they’re doing .
“It’s a free event and a great opportunity for people to come in and ask questions.
“We’re holding the event as part of the activities for International Day of People with Disability,” Ms Weaver said.
The event will be held on Wednesday November 29 at 2A Cambell Street, Young with locals welcome to attend at any time between 8.30am and 5.00pm.
Light refreshments will be provided during the event.

When the National Disability Insurance Scheme commences in a district, people currently receiving supports through the New South Wales Government specialist disability services and Commonwealth disability programs will be moving first according to the National Disability Insurance Scheme website.
NSW is also in the process of transitioning to the National Disability Insurance Scheme Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach.
