Scorchers Captain Troy Newham said his team got off to a great start.
“After winning the toss we chose to bowl with a wicket falling on the first ball of the innings from the bowling of Ben Logue who ended up with figures of 4 for 15,” he said. “With tight bowling from all our bowlers we had Temora all out for 109, Nick Bush also bowled well with figures of 1 for 30. “Our other bowlers played well with Steve Tomlinson 1 for 17, Craig Hambrook with tidy figures of 3 for 10 and Daniel Miller 1 for 14. “Our batsmen also played well reaching the total with the loss of 4 wickets in the 17th over with Troy Newham top scoring with 33 not out, Ben Logue 25 and Nick Bush 20.
Aussie Hotel Scorchers 4/111 (T Newham 33*, B Logue 25, M Gillard 2/34) defeated the Temora Shamrock Hotel Leprechauns 109 (M Gillard 38, B Logue 4/15, C Hambrook 3/10).
The Criterion Gunners made 198 batting first thanks to a great innings from Captain Craig Wills (97) and Leonard Hurcum with 55. Stockinbingal replied with 110. Gunners’ Craig Wills said Stock were never really in the hunt with regular wickets falling. Best bowling figures were Javarn Hurcum with 3/10 who also took a great diving catch in the outfield and Craig Wills with 3/1.
Criterion Gunners 6/198 (C Wills by 97, L Hurcum 55) defeated Stockinbingal Cricket Club 110 (A Sides 41, C Wills 3/1, J Hurcum 3/10, E Richens 2/24).
The Temora Bowling Club Tigers defeated the Young Services Club Saints in their clash. Saints Captain Chris Martin said his side batted first and made 167 with only nine players. “We had some of our main batters out, Josh Skinner scored 89 and Brandon Sanderson scored 35,” he said. “We started our bowling well and had the Tigers 4/56. With some great tight bowling again from Brian Munnerley with figures of eight overs, three maidens and one wicket. Brandon and Josh had two wickets each and Shane Wilson three wickets. But then with some sloppy bowling and good batting from Temora they passed our tally in 34th over with the lost of eight wickets. But I thought it was a great effort from the boys who played.”
Temora Bowling Club Tigers 8/169 (M Wynd 61, S Tasseu 40, P Robinson 29*, S Wilson 3/26, J Skinner 2/21, B Sanderson 2/37) defeated Young Services Club 7/167 (J Skinner 89, B Sanderson 35*, M Oliver 3/27). Division One results: Blues 8/262 defeated the Whirlwinds 150. Coyotes had the bye.
