The feature race of the 10 race program will see the running of the Telstra Shop $12,240 Young Cherry Festival Cup run over 2100m. It has without doubt brought together one of the best fields seen at Young for many years and it is anticipated that the current track record will be broken. Looking at the field in its entirety, the selection of the eventual winner is certainly a difficult task but there is no doubt whoever wins the annual race will have stiff competition.

Pole marker Sky Falcon recorded an impressive win at Parkes two starts back rating 1:58.6 over a similar distance. Wrangler Duke raced with success at at the Canola Cup carnival without registering a win. Onthestraightenarrow put four wins together before finishing fifth last start and is from a strong stable. Lockton Loaded has been around the money without winning but has the services of Young track specialist John O’Shea and will be in a forward position throughout. The locally trained campaigner Another Fireball will be driven by Matt Rue and was a winner at Leeton in mid-September. Amanda Turnbull has elected to drive Raksmach from a wide barrier in the feature race handing the driving duties to Amy Rees on last years winner Parramatta. Raksmach has been racing well over recent weeks since winning at Menangle over 2300m on September 9.

Mouse In The House is resuming but has above average abilkity when fully fir while Kenny Dee Dee has won at his last two start at Blayney since resuming and is in excellent form at the moment and could well be the winner. The Grenfell trained Holy Camp Clive continues to be competitive winning at Parkes three starts back and will have the support of the visiting Grenfell contingent.

Racing will commence at 7:10pm and the chances in the opening event include Our Dandy ahead of the locally trained Ruby’s Shadow, Runaway Jolt and Im Tilly Devine to set the pace early.

Race two is sponsored by the TAB and here the Bernie Hewitt trained Allnight Mlady looks the goods ahead of Rainbow On Fire and Dust To Diamonds in what should be a great contest.

Race three the Amanda Turnbull trained Taihape Sunset looks one of the better bets of the night following two recent wins and is drawn ideally in gate three. Dangers are Lorenzo Shannon who has won two from three while polemarker Red Hot Jerry won two starts back and will be forward throughout.

The Trimech Pace is race four on a massive program. Possible chances in a tricky race include Smart Major, last start winner Star Brutus for Blake Jones, Keep Moving and Corrinyah Conmen from a favourable gate.

In race six the second line horses appear to have the best chance of taking home the prize.They include Slice Of Paradise, Miss Ives and Irish Shenanigans.

Another good race in seven which includes Bettor Under Fire for trainer Lester Hewitt, Village Angel from gate one, Shazam Shannon and Gunna Collect.

Regular sponsor Neville Smith with his company Southcon sponsor race eight and the selections include Midnight In Vagas, Hard Liner, last start winner Eye Liner and Lauriston Dash for Trevor White and Chris Judd.

In race nine the selections are Ideal Fantasy for Trevor White, Grosestar who has shown plenty of ability in two starts and Our Mach Jack for Ray Walker.

The final race is the Young Hotel Pace. Garry and Marie will no doubt be tucked up in bed at 11:30pm but viewers will be watching the result with interest. Courage Within for Neil Day has the form on the board and looks the winner ahead of Italian Eyes and Rock With Lucy.

The night is shaping up to be the best yet with all of the usual amenities on offer.
