This year’s event included former NRL player and host on the Matty John’s Show Brian ‘Fletch’ Fletcher, a rock climbing wall as well as lots of fun races and activities the whole family could enjoy.
“Apart from promoting vehicle safety, prevention of Low Speed Vehicle Run-Over accidents and support for affected families, the Duck Day is about giving back to the community, and bringing families together,” GJ Foundation founder Emma Cockburn said.
“It is always great to look around during the day and see all the mums and especially dads, who don’t often get to come to the pool with their kids, in the water swimming with their families and just having a good time!”
The day was run by volunteers who generously gave up their time to help out on the day.
“As always our volunteers are amazing - to have so many people give up their time over the weekend to help set up, run the day, and then pack up afterwards is wonderful. Without them, the day just would not happen,” Mrs Cockburn said.
There was a massive number of sponsors for the day which has become more and more popular every year.
“A huge thank you to all the sponsors both local and regional - without them the day could not have been such a success.”
Mrs Cockburn said all the prizes and giveaways from the day were donated.

“The generous sponsorship enabled us to bring the fabulous Base Zero Rock Climbing wall to town,” she said.
“Thank you to everyone who contributed.”
The highlight for all of the local footy fans was the special guest Brian Fletcher.
“We were very appreciative of our special guest who gave his time to travel up and enjoy most of the day with us.”
Everyone in attendance were thoroughly entertained by Fletch tackling the rock wall while dressed in the GJ Foundation duck suit.
“Also a special mention about our duck suit man, who only got married the day before, then came to Duck Day and brought his whole family with him. Thanks Loc and Leo!”
