On April 11, the Student Representative Council held a fundraiser where students in the primary section of the school were asked to wear either red, white or blue colours depending on their classes and bring in a $2 donation for being out of uniform all so they could create the Laos flag, the country where the school’s foster child Chanphama Sybounthiem comes from.
The Student Representative Council ended up raising a total of $539.20 which will be donated to Chanphama to be used for education, living expenses and to help to support his family.
The Student Representative Council at Young Public School is always coming up with new and inventive ways to raise money for Chanphama to help him reach his goals and to allow him to have a life similar to the one many students here in Australia are able to experience.
