What is an incubator and what could this mean for the Hilltops region? An incubator can take many different shapes & forms, dependent on regional needs. It is part of the working group’s brief to decide on the mix that suits Hilltops. Broadly, the goal of the Incubator Hub is to support business to grow, help create jobs and look to the future.
There are five core ingredients in the incubator mix. Start-ups, innovators & entrepreneurs: includes individuals, groups & businesses with new ideas that they wish to develop in order to grow their business & increase job opportunities within our region.
Mentors: experienced people within our community who are willing to share their expertise with the start-ups, innovators & entrepreneurs.
Investors: large, small, philanthropic, corporate & venture capital are invited to support this vision for the business growth of Hilltops. This is an opportunity to place our region at the forefront of innovation and encourage businesses to develop and prosper.
Workspace: provides a location for start-ups/innovators/entrepreneurs which offers cheap & easy office space. Here likeminded people can meet & acceleration & support programs can be conducted.
Connection: Hilltops Connect is already in operation creating a network of business contacts, expertise and interest across the region. Each month informal discussion promotes collaboration, opportunity and new ideas.
Who would not want to be a part of such a forward-thinking strategy? I invite all to become part of the incubator mix – contact Debbie Evans at Hilltops Council (debbie.evans@hilltops.nsw.gov.au) and she will direct you to a hub contact. Cr Marg Roles
