The winning couple, Daniel Slater, 20, and The Witness’ Trish Foxall, 42, set the dance floor on fire in a cougar inspired routine to Hot Chocolate’s ‘You Sexy Thing’.
They were chosen due to their fundraising abilities, bringing in an impressive $3334.
In total, contestants raised more than $5000 at the Cherry Blossom Gala Event, performing in front of a glamorously dressed 190-strong audience at the Young Town Hall.
Half the proceeds are slated for this year’s Cherry Queen entrants’ four chosen charities, the Young Crisis Accommodation Centre, Young Hospital’s Oncology Unit, CanAssist and organ donation.
The remaining half will go towards December’s National Cherry Festival.
The Cherry Festival Committee president, Lenore Schillar, said she was surprised at the high standard of dancing.
“I think the night was spectacular,” she said. “Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Those who danced were very entertaining.”
Ms Schiller thanked Kelly Slater, aka The Dance Fairy, for all the hard work she put into organising the event.
