She travelled to Grenfell on Sunday with the support of four members of Young Lions Club - Louise McKnight, Jan Foreman, Marie Tame and president Ron Hampton.
Lauren competed against two other students in Quandialla local Kate Kelly who represented Grenfell’s Henry Lawson High School, and Maddison Johnson of Cowra.
To kick off the competition, each contestant was interviewed by a panel of judges.
Then, individually, each student was given two impromptu questions which they had to deliver a two minute talk on.
A five minute speech was then prepared.
The girls captivated the audience with their interesting topics leaving the judges Maurice Simpson, Judy Mitton and Trish Stephens - all of Grenfell - with a very difficult decision.
It was a tight contest with only 1.5 points separating the three girls.
Young’s entrant was announced the overall winner and Kate Kelly and Lauren tied for first place in the public speaking section.
Congratulations to all the contestants.
Lauren now goes onto the district final at Wagga on Sunday, March 15.
We wish her the best of luck and the Young Lions Club members will be accompanying Lauren on her next journey.
