They walked a total of 7,884,221 steps between them for the whole of March, averaging 254,329 per day and 12,716 per person.
The purpose of the challenge was to increase physical activity and spread the healthy living message in a fun way.
It’s MLHD’s second annual challenge for staff and it ended at midnight on Tuesday, March 31.
The local troupe were among the 800 participants walking around MLHD’s virtual map.
“Staff have commented that, not only are they doing the challenge, but their partners and family members are also tracking their daily steps to improve their health,” MLHD wellbeing manager Nikki Miller said.
“It is a great reminder to everyone that simple exercise, such as walking, is key to looking after your health.”
The virtual map allowed teams to learn more about the district they served and read some interesting facts about their great region.
“10,000 steps per day is the recommended goal for optimum health and to improve cardio fitness, strengthen your bones and ward off chronic disease,” Ms Miller said.
“Daily exercise can also provide a positive boost in mood from the release of endorphins, it also improves cognitive function and it is proven decision making and problem solving ability improves after exercise.”
