Burrangong Bears women’s co-coach Peter Campbell said both grades put in a gallant effort against Eugowra on Sunday despite recording two losses.
While First Grade welcomed the return of key player Brett Hardy, they were unfortunate in losing several others to injury what Campbell said – along with other factors – played a big role in the outcome.
“We dropped too much ball, had too much injury and we had two blokes out who were busted from the previous week, but that’s the way it goes,” he said.
Come halftime the Bears held Eugowra to a 12-nil in what Campbell described as atrocious conditions, but they couldn’t contain the Eagles.
In League Tag the Bears held last years premiers to a 16-6 scoreline to earn praise from their proud coach.
“They’re playing well above expectations at this stage considering they’ve only been going a year and a half,” Campbell said.
“We have another four new players, the team’s going absolutely awesome.”
