One of the many benefits of the merged local government structure is the sharing of Council’s event, digital marketing and tourism expertise across the Hilltops Council area.
Council is offering promotional support and the leveraging of existing digital assets.
This is to help raise awareness of these events and grow visitation.
It should also grow awareness of the Hilltops across the Canberra Region and beyond.
Recently, Council staff have met with organisers of the Harden Kite Festival and the Sergeant Parry Memorial Day in Jugiong.
Both of these events have excellent community based structures.
They each have committed volunteers and we look forward to assisting them.
We will work together on promoting and building upon their support base to grow each event.
This should drive tourism, not only locally, but across the region.
The State Government have recently confirmed the guidelines around the Community Infrastructure Grants.
With this in mind, Hilltops Council are now beginning to organise community meetings in villages and towns across the Hilltops Council area.
These meetings will offer Council and myself the opportunity to engage with the community.
We will take the chance to discuss initiatives and ideas around how these grants may further develop and enhance our communities.
I am personally looking forward to meeting with residents from across our region.
It will give me the opportunity of updating communities on how the Hilltops Council is progressing in this transition period.
It will also be a great opportunity to share the Hilltops Council’s direction into the future.
