Hilltops Council is urging households to take advantage of three Chemical Clean Out events that will take place across the Local Government Area during August.
The annual event is designed to give households the chance to safely dispose of unwanted chemicals around the home.
“These events provide local residents an opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous waste such as household, garden and pool chemicals, as well as other potentially hazardous materials,” Hilltops Councils’ General Manager Anthony McMahon said.
“Through an initiative driven by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), residents are able to drop off unwanted or out of date chemicals and hazardous products at three locations across the Hilltops Region without charge,” he said.
CleanOut is a free service for the safe disposal of a range of household chemicals that could cause harm to human health and the environment if they are not disposed of correctly..
Household Chemical Clean Out events will take place on Friday and Saturday, August 19-20 at the following locations:
- Friday, August 19: 8am-11am. Boorowa Showground, Ballyryan Road, Boorowa;
- Friday, August 19: 1pm-4pm. Harden Transfer Station, Araluen Road, Harden;
- Saturday, August 20: 8am-2.30pm. Victoria Street Waste Management Facility, Victoria Street, Young.
These events provide local residents an opportunity to safely dispose of potentially hazardous materials.
