The Under 18 Cherrypickers were left shattered on Sunday after being knocked out of the Group Nine finals.
Only one point separated the sides as the ‘Pickers took on the Wagga Brothers at Wagga in the preliminary finals of the Wiessel Cup. The Undermanned Cherrypickers were defeated 11-10.
Wagga were held to one try in first half after scoring in the opening 15 minutes to go into the sheds up 6-nil.
Despite coming out flat in second half it was Young who scored first within 10 minutes.
After making good metres up the field an offload by Nick Boland found Jack Stanley who crossed for Young’s first try of the game. Conversion was unsuccessful, 6-4.
Young’s second try came from simple play when an underball from Young’s hooker found the hands of Jake Walker who crashed over the line.
The remainder of the game was a tight tussle and Young weren’t able to capitalise on opportunities. Brothers put a seal on the game with a field goal with 30 second remaining.
