Terry Holmes and Robert McGlynn of the Riverina Vietnam Veteran’s Reunion were grateful in accepting a $1000 cheque from the South West Slopes Credit Union recently to go toward the event.
South West Slopes Credit Union’s Andrew Jones presented the cheque which will go toward raffles, the dinner and general organisation.
The reunion – to be held over November 11 to 13 at the Young Services Club – will see veterans march up Boorowa and Main streets before conducting a ceremony at Anderson Park. Every ex-servicemen from all services are invited to attend the reunion.
The last reunion held in Young was back in 2010 when around 250 veterans attend the Friday night dinner.
Mr McGlynn said veterans come from all over Australia to attend the annual reunion which was held in Wagga last year, Deniliquin in 2014 and Griffith in 2013. Plans are already in place for the group’s 40 year reunion to be held at Leeton in 2017.
