CANASSIST CORNER OCTOBER 2016
The CanAssist Young/Boorowa branch is busy organising their annual Garden Wander which this year is on Sunday October 23.
The wet weather of late has meant most gardens in the district are looking magnificant and the two gardens which will be visited are no exception.
The two gardens of Lyn and Jim McAlister on Back Creek Road and of Chris and Susie Duff on Kingsvale Road exhibit diverse features.
One of the gardens focuses on orchids and the other on mature shade trees and shrubs in a country garden shaped around the panoramic views.
Participants will not only enjoy the gardens but have access to a coffee cart, plant stall, all day lunch and raffles which are all part of the day.
Directions on the day from Boorowa Street or more details on our Facebook page-CanAssistYoungBoorowa.
We invite you to come and enjoy these different gardens.
We have been busy providing supper for two nights of ‘Calendar Girls’ and a huge congratulations for the well deserved support the Young Theatre Company received for this production.
A lot of hard work by all those involved in the play itself and the calendar resulted in a very professional delivery.
Proceeds from the sale of the calendars is to be shared with our branch.
At our August meeting the executive for the following year were voted in.
Secretary is Kaylene Windsor, treasurer is Pene Nuthall and President is Gail Hanigan ably assisted by vice-president Chris Wright.
Our branch had a very successful fundraising year in 2015/16.
The branch raised over $50,000 in donations which allowed over $36,000 to be given in patient assistance.
Part of this was from our bi-annual Golf Day run for many years under Young Golf Professional Phil Cartwright.
Our branch presented Phil and his wife Leneve with a Certificate of Appreciation for all their years of help towards this day and wish them well in retirement.
