
Young lady golfers headed off in all directions to play golf last weekend.
The culmination of the season's golf in our district was the championships of the South West Ladies' Golf Association played at a very wet 16 hole Cootamundra.
Eight ladies from Young competed.
Kate Cooper had a very successful tournament winning the 36 hole division two scratch event and was runner up in the handicap event.
She also won the day's scratch event on Friday and Saturday.
Kate was also in the winning team in the Jan Turvey Memorial and the Ryrie Cup with Larraine Nicolls, Wendy Tuckerman and Ros Anderson.
Congratulations Kate, a great effort.
Another Young player, Larraine Nicolls, won the 36 hole handicap event in division two and was runner up in Friday's 18 hole scratch event.
Larraine also won the Veteran's event on Friday and shared the Worner Bowl with Annie McMaster of Cootamundra.
Well done Larraine.
Foursomes
In Sunday's Foursomes, Ros Anderson and Wendy Tuckerman were runners up in both the scratch and handicap events in division one.
Kate Cooper and Maureen Perkins were runners up in division two, with Maxine McCormack and Larraine Nicolls placing third in the handicap event.
Meanwhile nine ladies headed to a very much drier course for the Catalina (Batemans Bay) Tournament.
In Friday's foursomes, Michele Blizzard and Liz Harding placed third.
On Saturday Joan Coddington was the handicap winner, Helen Smith the scratch runner up and Tilla Davis nearest the pin.
On Sunday in division one, Michele Blizzard was the handicap winner.
Helen Spencer was the scratch runner up in the 36 hole event.
In division three, Joan Coddington won the 36 hole handicap event.
The team challenge was lost to Catalina on a countback.
Sweepstake
At home on Saturday five ladies competed in a ball sweepstake. Lorraine Regan with 31 points and Chris Keevil with 29 points were the winners.
On Wednesday eleven players competed in a single stableford event with Noela Hardman and Pammie McCloy being the voucher donors.
The winner in division one was Maxine McCormack with 37 points and Lavell Hardy with 36 points won division two.
The ball comp winners were Maxine 37, Lavell 36, Lorraine Regan 35 and Larraine Nicolls 31 points.
Presentation Day
Presentation Day will be on Sunday, November 6 with nine holes of golf optional.
As usual, members are asked to bring a salad or a delicious slice/dessert.
