Young will progress to the next round in the McDonald Plate knockout competition after they defeated Wellington by 134 runs on Sunday.
Young scored 10/245 with a standout performance from Zac Williams on the bat hitting two sixes and 10 fours and scoring a total of 86 runs in one innings.
Support came from fellow opener, Geoff Palmer (20), Smithy Goodman (24), Kris Scelly (27) and captain Jason Hall (34).
Hall said he couldn’t have been any prouder of the boys who dug in through the middle order after a shaky start at 5/61.
Young then proceeded to bowl Wellington out 10/111 off 33 overs. Mick Ashton starred with the ball bowling out 4/21. Scott Druett and Callan Taylor took two wickets each with Kyle McGovern and Duncan Cameron bowling one wicket each.
Young now wait to hear who they will meet in the next round in December.
