Over 200 ex-servicemen converged on Young over the weekend to attend the 39th Riverina Vietnam Veteran’s Reunion.
The weekend kicked off with a meet and greet at the Young Services Club on Friday night, followed by a march up Boorowa Street on Saturday afternoon. Young branch secretary, Terry Holmes, said an estimated 100 veterans took part in the annual march which was followed by a service at Anderson Park.
“We were led by the town band, and accompanied by the school cadets,” he said. “The school cadets did a guard at Anderson Park where we had our ceremony, laid wreaths and Father Allan Crowe did the readings.”
Around 200 people attended Saturday night’s dinner, before the weekend wrapped up with a barbecue and general meeting at the Bowling Club.
“It was an excellent weekend and everyone was very pleased with the hospitality of the town,” Terry said.
“It’s just a good catch-up.”
