
Local shop owners are being encouraged to contact police if they encountered any suspicious behaviour in relation to credit card purchases last week.
The plea comes after several businesses in Young fell victim to credit card fraud.
About 1.30pm on Thursday police were alerted to a woman acting suspiciously on Boorowa Street. The 33-year-old female was arrested and taken to Young Police Station being discovered she had two outstanding warrants. While in custody her property was searched and a number of credit cards – believed to be either stolen or fraudulent – were located.
The woman was bail refused on a number of offences and appeared in Wagga Local Court on Friday.
CCTV footage was reviewed in relation to the matter.
Police ask shop owners suspicious of recent credit card purchases made over the phone in exchange for vouchers or high value goods to contact them on 6382 8199.
