It’s less than 10 days to Christmas and the end of 2016 looms large. What’s a busy year it has been across the Hilltops Region.
The region’s harvest is now well underway and the tourist quest to pick cherries for fun and purchase cherries for the festive feast has intensified over the past week. There is some beautiful fruit being harvested and many visitors keen to take some back home.
Cherries, strawberries, apricots, peaches and plums are currently available at some orchards and the list of orchards with fruit for sale is being collated daily at the Young Visitor Information Centre. Please keep us in the loop so we can inform visitors.
The Christmas tradition of Carols by Candlelight is being upheld around the Hilltops Region. While Boorowa community celebrated last Sunday, Murrumburrah Harden will stage an event in Newson Park tonight and Young Christian Churches are organising the event in Carrington Park on Sunday.
Welcome to all those visitors who are arriving in Young for Christmas and the holiday season. A reminder that there are a variety of enjoyable activities across the region – leafy parks, swimming pools, golf courses, historic sites, cafes, wineries, an antique trail, retail experiences, art galleries and more. From Wyangala Dam in the north to the Murrumbidgee River at Jugiong the region offers a smorgasbord of activities suited to the summer season.
The South West Regional Cinema has a big program of movies and school holiday events too.
Young Regional School of Music will bring Troy Cassar-Daley to town for his” Things I Carry Around” concert to be held on the Friday of next year’s festival. The concert will be held at Young Services Club on December 1 and pre-bookings are available on 6382 5735, 6382 1944 and yrsm.org.au
Congratulations to the Young Regional School of Music for their smart forward planning.
