Pets for presents – are you ready?
Cute little puppies and kittens with big floppy ribbons - Holiday movies, television programs and advertisements make it seem like Christmas is the best time to find a new pet under the tree.
Not all Christmas pets live up to the hype, and bringing a new animal into the home during such an exciting holiday can be just the opposite of a positive beginning.
When bringing a new pet home things to remember are:
- Make sure you prepare the family – especially the kids to all the changes that will take place within the household.
- Is your home prepared? Make sure that the house is safe and secure.
- Is there another alternative to a new pet? Instead of gifting your family with a puppy or kitten, you might want to think of something else to give instead and make it a promise for a pet in the future.
