Appearing via audio-visual link from the Supermax prison in Goulburn where he is currently being held, Zahab’s charges were read out before the court by Magistrate J Giles.
Magistrate Giles adjourned Zahab’s case until June 14 to give both the defence and prosecution time to reply to briefs.
The 42-year-old electrician from Young is facing several charges relating to terrorism including alleged attempts to research, design, and model a long-range missile and a guidance system for the missile and design a laser warning device for Islamic State.
Zahab was arrested by Australian Federal Police at his home in Young on February 28 after an 18 month investigation into the former solar panel installer.
Zahab was formally denied bail in Parramatta Local Court and will remain in custody at Goulburn Supermax until his case his heard again on June 14.
