The Burrangong Bears Rugby League Club will be holding a charity football match against Bathurst CSU this Saturday March 18, to lend their support to Debbie Longhurst in reaching her fundraising goal before her head is shaved.
The charity football match will be held at Hall Bros oval in Young and will be followed by an event at the Australian Hotel between 5 pm and 7 pm where Debbie will be going under the clippers.
“Everyone is invited to come along and see the girls from Scissor Sisters shave my head for this great cause,” Debbie said.
Debbie is also holding a monster raffle to help her raise funds for blood cancer research, tickets for the raffle will be available at the Burrangong Bears charity match.
“I am taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave in 2017 in support of my husband and others in the community who are living with leukaemia every day and their families who go on this journey with them,” Debbie said.
Mrs Longhurst also wants to help those who have been diagnosed with the disease.
“Support is required not just for research but also transport, accommodation and support programs,” she said.
Debbie has set herself a goal of raising $2,000 before she braves the shave, but of course hopes that she will go over her goal.
