Young took on a Junee side coming off the back of a win against Cootamundra, while Young was coming off a disappointing week against Gundagai.

In sometimes atrocious conditions Young dominated Junee and at full time registered a 34 to 4 victory.

Young's captain coach James Woolford was happy to get a win on the board and was pleased with the effort of his team

“The game was played on our terms from the start when we received the ball after an early mistake from Junee from the kickoff,” he said.

“The Cherrypickers continued to build pressure attacking Junee’s try line and after repeat sets we managed to cross their line through Saul Lealaitafea.

“The game continued to be played in rainy and windy conditions and after the first 40 minutes Young went into half time leading 16-0.”

Woolford said he was happy with the team’s defence early in the second half.

“Through some great on line defence Young managed to hold Junee out and once we gained some quality possession, the team started to work towards wrapping up the game with another try in the first 20 minutes of the second half,” he said.

“Junee then broke Young's line once through some of our errors but it was the way we bounced back that was most pleasing.

“We scored another two tries to wrap up the game and come away with a comprehensive win.

“I’m looking forward to now taking on Tumbarumba next and building on last weeks effort.”

After a patchy first half of Rugby league at Alfred oval the Reserve grade side went on to defeat Junee 30 to 6.

Manager Cameron Jones said his team took some lessons from the first half and played very well in the second to secure the victory.

“We went into the sheds locked at six all at half time, we made the mistake of trying to take the larger Junee pack on up the middle, that combined with a number of handling errors, ensured that Junee remained in the game up to the break,” he said.

“Junee scored first in what was regarded a soft try before Young’s Matt Murray offloaded to Jacob Hardy backing up on the outside to score beside the posts.”

Jones said a vastly different side ran out on to the paddock in the second half.

“Matt Murray at halfback produced a standout performance directing the side around he constantly found holes, offloading a sneaky inside ball to the rampaging centre Nick Schiller to put him under the post, then in a solo effort Murray broke the line and ran 40 meters to score another try,” he said. Players player - Matt Murray (3) Casey Wall who was rock solid in defence got two points, and Greg Lestrange was awarded one point.
