While everyone was on holidays Young Golf Club was on par, with many events held at the course over the Easter break including Wayne Honeman’s win for the coveted Easter egg prize and Geoff Walker winning Cowra’s Easter Classic.

Last Saturday three big Easter egg hampers donated by Big W in Young were the major prizes with a number of visitors from out of town playing at the Young Golf Club both socially and in the competition for the chocolate prizes.
Wayne Honeman was the winner of the major prize on 39 stableford points. There were a number of players that hit 36 points and a countback was needed to sort out the place getters. Royal Canberra Golf Club member Ian Hills who was visiting Young won second place with Allan Moore picking up third prize on the day.
Next Saturday the Young Golf Club will be holding the Brian Gales Memorial event sponsored by Chris and Robert Keevil, Chris and Di Fraser and Margaret Gales and family.
The event will be a medley fourball stableford with an individual event for both men and ladies.
The Sunday medley will be sponsored by Landmark Young and will be followed by the special Anzac Day single event sponsored by Ian Tierney and Rick Oliver which will have trophies for both the men and ladies.
Young Golf Club wishes to remind members the Young Open Tournament will be held on the first weekend in May with a fourball on the Saturday and a single event on the Sunday and will be sponsored by Mark Crutcher, the Young Car Wash and John Hobson.
The Veterans open tournament will be held on Tuesday May 9.
Anyone wanting to play in either the scratch or handicap pennant teams are asked to leave their name with Bryce in the pro-shop. Young Golf Club have entered one team in each division so players are asked to please give some consideration to playing.
“Thanks to all our players who have played their matches in the matchplay championship,” Young Golf Club’s Bill Kearney said. “We are now down to the finals.”
A-grade: Joel Shields will play James French. B-grade: Garry Anderson will play Bailley Scott-Miller. C-grade: Patrick Fitzgerald will play Aaron Moloney.
Cowra Golf Club held their 40th Easter Classic last weekend with Geoff Walker winning the open scratch with 139 (three under par ) shooting 68 and 71 over Saturday and Sunday.
Geoff and Darryl Brown won the four Ball scratch event on Friday with a best ball score of four under par. There were almost 10 players from Young participating at Cowra over the weekend.
