McIllhatton had been playing first grade for the Sydney Football Club side before he was tapped on the shoulder to step up to the A-League and play in the squad to take on the ‘Gunners’ in the kick-off to their pre-season for the 2017-18 season.
The Sky Blues put up a tough fight against the English side but went down to Arsenal 2-0.
McIllhatton wore the number 16 shirt and did his former Young coaches and teammates proud while on the field.
Sam isn’t only good with his feet, the Sydney FC player is also very handy with a bat according to many locals.
Many people have commented how the soccer star was also an asset when he was a part of the Young Cricket Association as well.
Samuel is the son of Jock McIllhatton.
