Scott Levick has joined Young High School after teaching at Cowra High for the last two years.
Mr Levick’s teaching faculty background is Physical Education and he will be bringing with him a wealth of experience in many education settings from Government, Independent and Catholic schools across the state.
Mr Levick has worked in many smaller schools which he feels contributes to student’s sense of belonging and contributes to their sense of purpose and value and once this is established students’ academic learning will follow.
The fact that Young High School is a Mind Matters school and school motto is “Every Student Matters” attracted Mr Levick to the position at Young High School and he is keen to be an integral part of student’s well being and the student centred approach of Young High.
Mr Levick’s role at the High School will involve mentoring support for teaching staff and the supervisor of well being, academic monitoring and rewards for students in year 7, 9 and 11.
Mr Levick’s role will complement the work of existing Deputy Principal Anna Barker in leading improvement, innovation and change and the management of the school.
Another new face Young High School has welcomed this term is new head teacher for Learning Support, Ms Bethany Parr.
Ms Parr will be a familiar face around the High School for many students joining the staff from Young Public School where she has been an important part of the community for six-and-a-half years.
Ms Parr’s experience and training also includes living in the United States of America for several years facilitating a number of programs for children, teens and young adults as well as studying a Masters in Special Education.
Ms Parr has close ties to all the public schools in Young and has said she is very excited to be teaching many of her former students at the High School.
Ms Parr said she is looking forward to being able to bring a cohesive educational experience, from pre-school through to post-school options for students with additional needs in her new role at Young High School.
