The fitness enthusiast and grandfather of eight said he understands the importance of teamwork and is committed to being an honest, ethical and hard working councillor.

"I want to be part of the team that works together, to make the Hilltops Region and our lives something to be proud of," Mr Horton said.

"Council should prioritise all outstanding projects, and add a list of proposed projects and get on with the job of making things happen. 

 "I'd like to see more support for farmers, businesses, doctors, hospitals, and medical services."

He said roads, tourism and infrastructure should be priorities of the Hilltops Council.

"I will fight for increased road funding from state and federal governments for better roads and push to have the Blayney to Demondrille rail line reopened," Mr Horton said.

"We should be promoting more tourism and the Arts within Hilltops, build a new Regional Library and upgrade the swimming Pool for Young.

“Harden should have natural gas, and Boorowa residents should have a safe and reliable water supply at an affordable cost.

"I want to see urgency within the new council, a quicker turnaround of all development applications, action and a fair go for all Hilltops residents."

Mr Horton lived in the Canberra region before retiring to the Hilltops eight years ago. 

He has had a broad spectrum of work experiences that include, labourer, wool classer,  CSIRO --  Plant Industry and Soil Physics --  NSW State Manager for Beecham Research, a pharmaceutical Company and State Manager -- NSW, WA with American Express.

Mr Horton spent four years on the Harden Local Council including two served as its mayor.
