Thanks must go to Carole and Tracey Clark, Jan Ryan, Ian Baird, Jenny de Reeper and Sheila Traynor who seven months ago had a vision to form a new Community Choir and secured a conductor, accompanist and a venue for rehearsals.
The new committee is as follows: President is Carole Clark; Vice President is Jan Ryan; Secretary is Tracey Clark; Treasurer is Ian Baird; Public Officer is Sheila Traynor; Librarian is Jenny de Reeper and Helen Bruce was named as Publicity Officer.
We are very fortunate to have Rodney Clancy from Canberra as our conductor. He is a very talented, creative, experienced and enthusiastic musician with champagne energy that flows on to our choir members.
Our accompanist is Stewart Bruce from Harden who is an amazing pianist. He is a very dynamic and experienced musician with the patience of Job as we, at times, struggle with tricky rhythms and challenging harmonies. Rodney and Stewart work as a professional team providing a happy learning experience for the choir members each week.
At present we are working towards a Choral Masterclass to be held in October and performances in Cootamundra in November and the National Cherry Festival in Young in December.
Following the October Masterclass, the choir will give a short public concert on Saturday October 14 from , 7.00 pm to 8.00 pm at the Young Uniting Church Hall. Entry will be by gold coin donation at the door.
The Hilltops Choir is always looking for new members who wish to “share the joy of singing”. We meet on Monday nights from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm at the Young Uniting Church Hall. Please contact Tracey Clark on 6382 3765 for further information.
