Work well under way: Things are really moving ahead with the revamp of Cranfield Oval as surveying, levelling works, removal of the old grandstand and trees plus the laying of underground pipes for the sprinkler system either completed or well underway. Along with the two new ovals and the new change rooms/toilets, Cranfield will be a show piece oval for Young.

Brumbies Under 16s: The ACT Brumbies under 16s side finished the National Championships, held in Queensland recently, without a win from their three pool games.
Although beaten in all three games the side can be extremely proud of their effort particularly the four Young Yabbies representatives.
Outplayed and outgunned in hot humid conditions on day one by a classy Queensland A side 43-14 the Brumbies side looked a 100 percent better side in game two when they took on NSW B. Unfortunately they were defeated in a nail bitter with the final score being 17-14.
Yabbies forwards Robert Roppeti and Michael Slattery were tough to stop up the middle of the field with their strong workload and damaging defence. The same can be said about inside centre James Schiller and winger Noah Hargreaves who worked tirelessly, with James bringing his trademark defence to the fore.
Game three against WA was a heartbreaking 20-19 loss in a game the boys should have won but for a penalty late in the game. Again the local lads performed well and gained valuable experience playing at this elite level.
Wedding season and babies: With the footy season over and the cricket season not yet fully upon us a number of club members have used the small window of opportunity to have their weddings. Hearty congratulations to Michael and Ebony Stallard, Shane and Kellie Botham and Hugh and Keira Wills on their recent nuptials’. All at the rugby club wish you the very best. The Yabbies rugby community also extends their best wishes to Dave and Frances Crowley on the birth of son James. Congratulations to you both.
