The South West Slopes Cricket Association had a tough start to 2018 with round 13 of the 2017-18 season declared a washout. According to the Elders weather app Young received a total of 4mm of rain over the weekend with the heaviest falls on Saturday morning leaving the committee and organisers to make the hard decision to call off play for the day. By 2pm on Saturday afternoon the sun was out however grounds around Young were still retaining water.
