The petition was submitted to the Council general manager and mayor.
Amongst the points outlined in the petition is a request for the mayor to meet with villagers at the proposed development site.
Developers George and Maureen Parris have indicated they would like to speak at the next Council meeting to air their concerns.
Hilltops Council mayor Brian Ingram said he has accepted the petition.
“The petition has been shown to general manager Anthony McMahon and it will be presented to councillors,” he said.
“The Hilltops Council does appreciate the villagers would like to see a development, it is just a matter of making sure all relevant guidelines are adhered to.
“It is my understanding that Mr Parris will address council in open forum at the next meeting which will give all present a chance to understand his concerns.”
