The majority of the money will be donated locally to the Hilltops Suicide Prevention Network with selling agents Phill and Sally Butt also generously donating another $500 towards the cause.
It was a testament to the quality and performance of the Glenfinnan Prime Lamb Genetics to see repeat and new buyers gathered for the 4th Annual Ram Sale on Friday February 9 conducted on farm at Bullaworrie, Young.
A total of 100 rams were offered, 10 more than last year to help meet the demand of buyers. There was a 100 percent clearance and a sale average of $1340 with 2 top priced rams selling for $2000. Purchasers RM and PJ Gray, Gooloogong purchased Lot 9 as a stud sire and Peter Baillie of Aramat Past Co, Yarrawonga VIC purchased Lot 32 with both lots topping the sale at $2000.
Purchases were made by new and repeat buyers from Yass, Cootamundra, Newbridge, Grenfell, Bribbaree, Binalong, Binda, Bookham and Gunning. Volume buyers included repeat buyers Chris and Margot Shannon from Talmo Past Co Bookham purchasing nine rams to average $1544 with a top price purchase of $1900, Cavan Station purchased eight rams to average $1237 with a top price purchase of $1600, James Watson Portadown Pastoral, Young, purchased seven rams to average $1328, new purchaser Peter Baillie of Aramat Pastoral Co, Yarrawonga purchased six rams with an average of $1633, new purchaser Markdale Station Binda purchased six rams to average $1616, purchasing three quality top priced rams at $1800, Avondale Livestock Cootamundra purchased four rams to average $1000 with a top buy of $1200, P and E Lyne of Cootamundra purchased four rams to average $1250 with two top purchases of $1500, Ceridale Pastoral Co purchased four rams to average $1325 with a top purchase of $1800.
The sale was conducted by Butt Livestock and Property with guest Auctioneer’s James Tierney from Riverina Livestock Agents Wagga and Randell Grayson of Forbes Livestock Agents, all members of the Rural Marketing Agents Network.
