The month there’s a dynamic round of events in the Hilltops region as the newly designed “Hilltops Enliven” program, melding Seniors Festival and Youth Week events continues in all three towns. Traditionally the Seniors Festival has been conducted from April 4 – 15 with Youth Week from April 13-22.
Holidays Arrive
School holidays for most students start today and already there are inquiries from grandparents seeking stimulating activities for visiting family members. They are sure not to be disappointed. You’ll find a full line-up on visithilltopsregion.com.au
Actor Officiating
On Friday actor Roger Ward officially opens “Circus at the End of the World” on the railway platform from 6pm. Megan Bailes is guest artist and everyone is welcome to attend.
Saturday Smorgasbord
On Saturday there is an opportunity to see the range of activities now offered at Young PCYC first hand during the Community Open Day from 10am to 2pm. In Boorowa there’s a reception for the Push the Pig at Boorowa Showground as Boorowa Country Education Celebrates 25 years and welcomes Percy the Pig home.
Far and Wide
Sunday is a busy day with Songs of Hope Concert at Boorowa featuring the Australian Rugby Choir, Gospel Folk Choir, M & D Society Choir and Hilltops Choir with Julie O’Connor and Rachael Campbell. At Monteagle “Iandra Castle” will be open to the public once again and Bribbaree hosts the Show and Shine/Horse Power Gymkhana Challenge at the village showground.
Horse Event
Some top riders and horses will be demonstrating their skill in Bendick Murrell over three days from April 20 -22 and spectators are welcome to attend and bring a chair, picnic rug and enjoy the fully catered family friendly weekend More details 0428 632 494.
Harden Celebrates
For dog fanciers Harden’s Sausages on Parade will be a novel addition to the calendar on April 29. A Dachshund Parade is planned from 11.30am and the Dachshunds are encouraged to wear coats if the weather is cold. All dogs will be on leads and there will be live entertainment and a community barbeque for a gold coin donation. More details from Rita O’Connor on 0407 227 140.
