2018 Business House Comp wraps up
Young Croquet Club wrapped up its yearly Raine and Horne sponsored business house competition last Tuesday following six weeks of play between various teams.
There were some very close results throughout the event and following a sausage sizzle and some goodies on Tuesday night Gecko Sports was announced as the winner.
The Gecko Sports team was made up of Peter, Leona, Scott and Maddy Druitt, Pat McIllhatton, Geoff Burn and Joyce Williams.
The runner-up of the business house competition was the Raine and Horne team consisting of Graham Schnider, Amanda Duggan, Theresa Ruhl and Ruth and Doug Leabeater, Betty Douglas and Pat Nowlan.
We would like to thank all teams playing in this event for participating and hope to see them all again next year.
Jamberoo Carnival
There were several of our members who travelled to Jamberoo last week to play in the Jamberoo Croquet Club’s annual carnival which was held in ideal conditions over four days where both doubles and singles were played.
A total of 32 players from 11 clubs took part in the four days of competition and as it turned out none of the Young players were able to achieve very many hoops with only Doug Leabeater and his allotted partner Carol Tieck from Jamberoo coming in runners-up in the doubles.
Club Singles Comp
Our club singles competition started last Monday and will be completed for all this week and the doubles section will then start next Monday and continue for that week.
We urge all members to play in these events as it gives our handicapping committee a good chance to see how good our members are progressing.
All games played in these two competitions are on level play with out handicap cards adjusted accordingly and therefore helps all players to become more competitive.
Inter-club challenges
Young Croquet Club members have the inter-club challenges coming up soon and as such the club asks all players intending to take part to please put their names on the noticeboard for the selectors to put into teams.
