The game started with both teams giving it everything in defence. Young gave the Wagga side ample possession in good field position. These young Pickers were outstanding in the way they tackled and defended.
The on line defence was like nothing we’d witnessed before with this group of players. Sam Schilt, Darcy Spring, Jesse Jewitt and Riley Butcher lead from the front.
We managed to put some great tries on the board with Nic Canellis (2) and Drew Edwards getting us to 18-4 at half-time.
The second half was much the same with Young making the most of the possession. Further tries went to Sam Schilt, Lachlan Bailey (2) and Hardy Glover. Goals from Marcus Ashton, Josh Cameron, Jesse Jewitt, Cooper Smith, Braxton Anderson and Hardy Glover.
Young beat Junee: The under 11s Pickers played Junee in the first rep game of the season.There was some great defence led by Darcy Spring, Riley Butcher and Sam Schilt. Captain Nic Canellis threw some nice passes and linked up with Josh Cameron, Billy Lamb and Cooper Smith. The score finished up Young 32 – Junee 12. Tries went to Billy Lamb Josh Cameron Sam Schilt Cooper Smith and Lachlan Bailey. Player of the match went to Riley Butcher closely followed by Darcy Spring
