Youngsters got to experience the joys of being read to and parents and teachers got to see the bonds that can be formed over a love of reading thanks to National Simultaneous Storytime. The annual campaign aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books.
Mrs Rothe said she enjoyed reading Hickory, Dickory, Dash, written by Tony Wilson, to an enthusiastic gathering of children at the Young Library.
“Reading to children is the foundation of life long literacy and language development so that is why National Simultaneous Storytime is an important initiative,” she said.
“Sharing stories with children with the rhyming language and the pictures is also enjoyable for the reader and that’s why parents and educators should embrace reading to children.”
